A Word About Us
Monika Cummings - Founder & President
Since 2013, I have been working towards developing a non-profit organization called TheEyeCareProject, which redistributes unused eyeglasses to children and adults who suffer from visual impairments caused by Trachoma in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The project has collected over 1,000 pairs of unused eyeglasses, sunglasses, reading glasses, provided over 200 vision screenings and 40 pair of newly prescribed eyeglasses.
While continuing to work on this project, I became aware of another need that specifically affected the female students of the school I was partnering with. After speaking with a few of the teachers and principal, I noticed that the school’s attendance rate for female students was extremely low. Collectively we discussed the various reasons but one in particular seemed to be manageable.
I became a Days for Girls Ambassador and founded The Red Tent Project which distributes reusable feminine hygiene products to empower women and girls with essential tools for self-sufficiency and sustainability. These individual kits allow young ladies and women to continue their education or daily work schedules without interruption for up to three years.
Together, these projects have expanded to other countries such as Ghana, Kenya and Jamaica and are now called The iCare Projects.

At The iCare Projects, Inc., we are dedicated to supporting and promoting healthy feminine hygiene for women and young girls. Through this initiative, each recipient receives a washable feminine hygiene kit which can last up to 3 years. Whether it is in our community, or one much farther away from home, we know that all women need and deserve our help and support.
